As we close the school year, we take time to celebrate all that our students have accomplished. This year has been filled with learning, growth, perseverance, friendships, and countless moments that have strengthened our school community. It has been a privilege to watch our students develop not only academically, but also as kind, resilient, and thoughtful young people.

On Tuesday, our ALP and ACCESS classes hosted a wonderful Carnival that brought smiles and laughter to students throughout the day. With face painting, games, and a variety of engaging activities, the event fostered joy, connection, and a strong sense of belonging. It was also a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their unique talents, creativity, and skills while creating lasting memories with their peers.

This week was particularly emotional for our Grade 9 students. On Wednesday evening, we celebrated them at our Grade 9 Farewell, recognizing their accomplishments and the impact they have had on our school community. Today, as they walked out of Clarence Sansom for the last time as junior high students, there were plenty of hugs, tears, and heartfelt goodbyes. While we are excited to see them begin the next chapter of their educational journey in high school, they will be deeply missed. We know they are leaving with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve great things, and we look forward to hearing about all they accomplish in the years ahead. Congratulations once again as you begin an exciting new chapter in high school. We are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished and know you will continue to achieve great things.

One of the highlights of our final weeks together was our celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day on Thursday. We were honored to welcome Elder Shirley Hill and Knowledge Keeper Chantal Chagnon who generously shared their knowledge and experiences through storytelling, hoop dancing, a meaningful discussion on land acknowledgement, and a smudging ceremony. It was equally meaningful to witness the gifts within our own staff. One of our teachers, Mr. Garden, shared a deeply personal land acknowledgement that reflected his own learning journey and connection to the land, while another teacher, Mr. Emond, who is Indigenous and has been gifted with the responsibility of leading smudging, guided our students and staff through a respectful smudging ceremony. These powerful learning experiences provided opportunities for reflection, understanding, and connection. Students were also invited to make personal, achievable commitments to Truth and Reconciliation, reinforcing that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that calls on each of us to learn, reflect, and take meaningful action.

To our families, thank you for your partnership, encouragement, and trust throughout the year. Your support at home and your collaboration with our staff have played an invaluable role in your children's success.

Report Cards

Report cards are now available on MyCBE. Families can access, view, and download their child's report card until July 31, 2026. We encourage you to take time to review both the achievement levels and the teacher comments, which provide a comprehensive picture of your child's learning, growth, and accomplishments throughout the school year.

Grade 9 Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs)

Our Grade 9 students recently completed their Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs). If your student took the tests, Preliminary PAT results were sent home with students on Thursday and Friday. Until these results are reviewed and completed by Alberta Education, they are considered unofficial and subject to change. In the fall, families of Grade 9 students will receive their child's Individual Student Profile (ISP), which contains the official PAT results.

To our returning Grade 7 and Grade 8 students, enjoy a safe and restful summer. We look forward to welcoming you back to Clarence Sansom School on August 31 for another year of learning, growth, and success.
