Oki, Danit'ada, Âba wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello, Sansom Community,

We had a full and productive week of learning at Clarence Sansom School. While student safety remains our top priority, our teachers continue to invest time and care into planning meaningful, engaging learning experiences for all students. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in your child’s education.

Class Reconfiguration
We continue to experience a growing student population and as a result we will be exploring the possibility of creating additional homeroom classes at certain grade levels to reduce class size starting after the winter break. Reducing the number of students in classes will enable teachers with the opportunity to spend more time with students individually and in small groups which will ultimately benefit all students. We acknowledge change may cause some apprehension for students and families; however, we are committed and hopeful that students will make a smooth transition with the newly configurated classes. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this process.

Cafeteria
The school cafeteria will be closed during the last week of school (Monday December 15-19, 2025). However, the Sansom Store will remain open each day that week, and noodles will be available for purchase there.

School Development Plan

Our School Development Plan for this year has now been posted on our school website. We encourage all families to take a few moments to review the document, as it outlines our priorities, focus areas, and the direction we are taking to support student learning and well-being. Staying informed about our goals helps strengthen the partnership between home and school, and we appreciate your continued engagement in our shared work.

Parent Council Fun Lunch - Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen & Subway

Our next Fun Lunch will take place on December 10. Today is the final day to get your order in. We have two choices this time, Popeyes chicken or Subway sandwiches...order from one or both. Lunch will be delivered to students in the foyer on December 10 during the lunch hour. All proceeds will be used by School Council to support classroom initiatives, school-wide events, end of year activities and field trips. You will need to set up a Healthy Hunger account and enter the student’s name and classroom to begin your order.

Winter Weather Reminders

Calgary has experienced the first taste of winter weather for the season. Snow, cold temperatures and wind chill can make getting to and from school challenging. Families are reminded that extra caution should be taken during the winter months and periods of extreme weather. You can find more information on our winter weather page.

Families should be prepared for transportation delays and check for the status of their bus in the morning. You can find more information, including transportation service provider apps, on the Using Transportation in Cold Weather page.

Please note that CBE Schools Rarely Close Due to Snow or Cold Temperatures

Assume that schools are open unless you hear otherwise from your school. Information regarding any school closures due to weather will be posted on the CBE website and social media, and shared with local news media.

We respect the right of parents/guardians to make their own decisions about sending their children to school. If your child will not be attending classes please ensure you contact the attendance line by calling the school to report the absence.
