Invite| Open House For New 2024-25 Students 

Clarence Sansom School is excited to invite new and incoming students/families to our Open House on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  See the invite on our school website for more information here.

Inform| Precautions for the Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8 

Earlier in the week, you received an email from both the CBE and Clarence Sansom School regarding the solar eclipse that is occurring on Monday, April 8. This will be a great learning opportunity, but we also must be cautious as there are health implications for not being safe during the eclipse. From approximately 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, Sansom will be doing the following:

• Indoor lunch (same as days that are colder than -20C)
  • Students will be highly encouraged to stay inside.
  • If students make the choice to go outside, they will be reminded not to look directly at the eclipse.
• There will be no outdoor teacher supervision.
  • Teachers on outdoor supervision will supervise inside on the main floor.
• There will be no outdoor learning opportunities (for any classes regardless of the weather) for periods 4-5.
  • Exceptions: teachers who have pre-planned learning activities and have proper (approved) eye protection for students.
• All blinds/window coverings in the building that can be lowered will be.

Planning| 2024-2025 Complementary Course Requests

The PowerSchool course registration page for the 2024-2025 school year is now open. Complementary course request forms went home this week. 

Please review and support your child as they make complementary course requests for next year, as staffing decisions are based on these requests. For more information about courses and how to register, please contact AP Williams or AP Rowe. Choices must be uploaded in PowerSchool and this form (with signatures) must be returned to your child’s homeroom teacher this week. 

Reminders| A Little Bit of Everything

• Students in PE must come prepared to engage in their learning every day. Please see information below for expectations:
• No technology of any kind, including phones and earphones are allowed in PE
• Backpacks must be stored in student lockers before coming to class
• Proper footwear must be worn that is conducive for safe physical activity (ex. indoor running shoes)
• Only students who are changing fully for PE/Athletics are allowed in the change room
• No food or drink (water is permitted)
• Students must sign out at the office before leaving during school hours. A legal guardian must call the office and speak to an office member before a student may leave. If a student is leaving with anyone other than a listed guardian, the legal guardian must inform the office that the person is approved to pick up the child. 
• It is so important to call and let the staff know your child is absent from school, so please make sure you call the Absence Line to let the office know.  Accurate attendance is so important in case we deal with an emergency in the school. Contact 403-777-7700.
• Students should not bring technology to school unless it is kept safely in backpacks and lockers. For more information, please check out our website here.
• Do not drop off and/or pick up students in the bus zones (east side of the school) as you are disrupting the follow off traffic and preventing12 busses from dropping over more than 400 students

Invite| Fun Lunch Sponsored by School Council

Parent volunteers, in support of Clarence Sansom School Council, organize the Fun Lunch program. Our next fun lunch (Pizza) occurs on April 18th. Place orders online via the Healthy Hunger website as soon as possible. Students are also able to order by paying cash in the office.
