Update| After Lunch School Access

Recently, there has been an increase of late students coming back to school after lunch. Many of these students are engaging in confrontational interactions with staff as doors are closing. To be clear, the late bell goes at 1:17 pm – at this time, all students and staff should be in their classroom spaces. Moving forward, all side doors will be closed at 1:14 pm. If students arrive to the school after 1:14 pm, they must use the main doors in the front of the school.

As a reminder, if families allow students to go off campus, it is the responsibility of students/families to ensure they are back to classes on time as not to disrupt their learning or the learning of others.

Thank you for your support and ensuring your students are ready to positively engage in school.

Inform| Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. It has since been recognized annually worldwide as a day to stand against bullying.

Pink Shirt Day encourages inclusive, welcoming and supportive relationships. Building healthy relationships is one of the best ways to prevent bullying and create safe environments. This Wednesday February 28th, 2024, students and staff are encouraged to wear a pink shirt to support anti-bullying.

Update| Transportation

Due to our increasing student population, CBE Transportation has arranged for an additional school bus to transport students to and from the school. It is important that families keep up to date with information. Route details and stop time information will be available on your MyCBE online account.

For those families who decide to drive students to/from school, it is imperative that you are not parking/stopping in the bus lane as we are up to 5 regular school buses and 7 complex needs buses. While your child is important, so are the 700 other students coming to and from Sansom everyday. Follow the rules of the road and avoid parking anywhere in the front of the school. Thank you for your support.

Urgent Request| Volunteers Needed

Parents and guardians are now able to register to volunteer online in the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account. Members of the community without a child in the system can also create a SchoolEngage account. Once volunteers have created an account, they can request and receive their volunteer letter required to obtain their police security clearance. Volunteers must visit the Calgary Police Service online system, electronic Police Information Check (ePIC), to obtain their police check using the CBE volunteer letter. Once volunteers have their clearance document (PIC VS), it can be uploaded and shared directly with the school through the SchoolEngage account.

To volunteer within the CBE, all adults are required to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector screening. This is to ensure the safety of our staff and students. If you would like to understand more about the police information check, please click here. The cost to obtain a Police Information Check is $21.

Please contact you’re the main office at 403-777-7700 if you require support with the sign-up process or have any other questions.
