Happy Sunday!

It is hard to believe that this is the last month of another awesome school year! Although this is the last month of the year, there are still many exciting things happening in our school and community. Please be sure to read through the newsletter for all the great events that are taking place.

We know that many families choose to take extended holidays over the summer as they are travelling great distances to see family and friends. However, if you are planning on going away, it is important to plan to be back for the first day of school – AUGUST 29th. If you are returning after August 29th, you MUST contact the school and speak with administration regarding your time away from school prior to leaving as school begins on August 29th and students who are missing the first day, may lose their spots at Clarence Sansom School.

There is a CBE system - wide communication tool that you MUST sign up for in order to receive any communication from the school.  For those families who are new to the CBE, please go to the Clarence Sansom webpage and click on the box that says SUBSCRIBE TO SCHOOL NEWS – be sure to register for Commercial emails.  Please watch your emails!

We know the summer can be full of changes, so if you decide over the summer that you will not be attending Sansom, or if you move, please be sure to email the school right away so we can ensure that your child is registered at the correct school.

As always, we as an administrative team, strive to be responsive to the needs and concerns of all students and parents and encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.

Celebrate| Touch Football

The Touch Football tournament Friday was definitely one for the history books. After having to change locations due to the recent water main break in Bowness, 12 schools over 300 athletes, coaches and parents came together to make the event happen.

Our Sr. Team was unreal. Sansom finished 4th out of 11 teams in the Sr. bracket and made the playoffs. Athletes played smart, tough, selfless, and focused on overall team football. Unfortunately a tough opponent and a few key injuries were too much for us to overcome in the semi-finals.

Our Jr. Team had some tough games and many learning moments along the way, but ultimately stuck together and pulled out a win in their last game!

Special Thanks to the PE team for accommodating requests for extra whistles, pinnies, cones and other PE supplies. Coach Penna for running the score table and keeping track of the standings with a million annoying coaches breathing down her neck wanting results immediately. Coaches Scodeller, Shodin and Bawa for taking on the coaching and helping out athletes find success. Of course a huge thanks to Coach Grant for organizing and overseeing it the entire tournament!

 Well Done Scorpions!

 Remind| Grade 9 PAT

Grade 9 students are completing Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) the next two weeks (see important dates below for the schedule). Students should arrive to school on time and be ready for the exam in the following ways:

  • Have a good breakfast prior to coming to school
  • Bring a snack if needed
  • Bring something to read for after the exam
  • NO DIGITAL DEVICES are permitted in the exam rooms

 Inform| Social Media

Check out the official Clarence Sansom School Instagram account: clarencesansomscorpionscbe where we celebrate all the amazing things happening at our school. If your child has another “Sansom” account, our strong recommendations is that you have them delete it!

 Update| IPPs

If your child is on an Individualized Program Plan (IPP), please review, sign & return the final signature page of your student's IPP to the school.

 Reminder| Offsite

Parents/Guardians are reminded that students are not allowed to participate, or be present at an offsite activity without a signed Acknowledgment of Risk (A of R) Form. For example, students are not permitted at the Track Meet unless they are participating and have a signed A of R.

Students should come prepared to participate in activities, which includes dressing for the weather.

Additionally, the Student Code of Conduct is in place during any offsite activity. If students are not following the Student Code of Conduct, parents/guardians may have to pick their child up from the activity.

Finally, if teachers do not believe a student is ready to safely participate or represent the school well during a planned offsite activity, they may not be permitted to attend.

 Remind| Report Cards

Families are able to view online student report cards for kindergarten to Grade 12 from June 26 – July 26, 2024. Report cards for the 2023-24 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed.

Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.
