National Day of Truth & Reconciliation- No School

Orange Shirt Day - Wednesday, September 24th
September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and we encourage students to wear orange on Wednesday, September 24th. Orange shirt day is intended to raise awareness of the individual, family, and community inter-generational impacts of residential school and to promote that “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the forced removal of culture, language, identity, and self-esteem thousands of Indigenous children experienced.

Terry Fox Run/Walk

Our annual Terry Fox run/walk will be on Thursday September 25, 2025. Leadership students will continue to raise money for cancer research by selling lemonade at lunch in the front foyer on Sept 24 and 25. It will be regular lemonade and the cost per glass will be $2.

School Fees

Your child's fees have been assigned, and you should be able to make payments. Fees are due starting in September as fees for complementary courses are used to run those classes. Payment of fees can be made online using your MyCBE account after fees have been assigned.

The CBE provides parents with flexible payment options, including:

  • Online | Fees are available to be paid once registration for services has been received and entered.
MyCBE accepts VISA, MasterCard, VISA Debit or Interac Online. Payments can be made throughout the year in the amount that best suits your financial situation.
  • Cheque | You are encouraged to use MyCBE to pay all fees. Cheque payments can be made at the school if this is not possible. All cheques must be accompanied by student name and CBE ID number as well as fee details.

No child is ever denied access to an education in the CBE because of an inability to pay. There are several ways to be considered eligible for a waiver. Applications can be made online at https://cbe.ab.ca/registration/fees-and-waivers/pages/waivers.aspx. You can also contact the main office at Clarence Sansom School for more information.

Transportation and Drop-Off/Pick Up

For students registered for the school yellow bus, you will have received your stop time and location information via email from CBE Transportation. More bussing information can be found on the CBE Transportation page.

If you drop your students off at the school:

• Please do not park or drop off students in the bus zone between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

• Please always use the marked crosswalks. (No jaywalking)

• Please drive responsibly and do not perform a U-turn in front of the school.

By practicing these habits at the start of the school year, we can keep all our students, families and neighbors safe. Thank you for your diligence.

Partners in Learning: Respectful, Ongoing & Effective Communication

As we begin a new school year and welcome new families to Clarence Sansom School, we want to ensure that parents and guardians know how best to communicate with the school. Families should always feel welcome to reach out to the school. Communication about your child begins in the classroom by reaching out to the classroom teachers. This is the optimal way to connect about your child's schooling.

We are a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful working and learning environment for all students, parents, and staff. As a result, in all communication between school and families, all individuals should be treated with dignity and respect, whether in person, over the phone, or via email. We have a common goal to ensure your child is successful.

While it is most optimal to first reach out to the classroom teacher, Mr. Steed, Principal, Dr. Amanwi and Ms. Nguyen, Assistant Principals, are available to work collaboratively alongside teachers to support students and their families.

Sincerely,

Clarence Sansom Admin
