Orange Shirt Day
Thank you to all staff and students who wore orange on September 24th in recognition of September 30th, which is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Orange shirt day is intended to raise awareness of the individual, family, and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools and to promote that “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the forced removal of culture, language, identity, and self-esteem thousands of Indigenous children experienced. As you go about this week, please take a moment to think about the students who did not physically come home from school. Think about the students who physically did come home from school but never did spiritually, and the impact it has had on generations of our people.
Terry Fox Run/Walk
Our annual Terry Fox run/walk on Thursday September 25th, 2025 was a huge success. Thank you to the school community for raising money for cancer research and for keeping the work Terry did many years ago alive.
School Fees
Your child's fees have been assigned, and you should be able to make payments. Fees are due starting in September as fees for complementary courses are used to run those classes. Payment of fees can be made online using your MyCBE account after fees have been assigned.
The CBE provides parents with flexible payment options, including:
- Online | Fees are available to be paid once registration for services has been received and entered.
MyCBE accepts VISA, MasterCard, VISA Debit or Interac Online. Payments can be made throughout the year in the amount that best suits your financial situation. - Cheque | You are encouraged to use MyCBE to pay all fees. Cheque payments can be made at the school if this is not possible. All cheques must be accompanied by student name and CBE ID number as well as fee details.
No child is ever denied access to an education in the CBE because of an inability to pay. There are several ways to be considered eligible for a waiver. Applications can be made online at https://cbe.ab.ca/registration/fees-and-waivers/pages/waivers.aspx. You can also contact the main office at Clarence Sansom School for more information.

Transportation and Drop-Off/Pick Up
For students registered for the school yellow bus, you will have received your stop time and location information via email from CBE Transportation. More bussing information can be found on the CBE Transportation page.
If you drop your students off at the school:
• Please do not park or drop off students in the bus zone between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• Please always use the marked crosswalks. (No jaywalking)
• Please drive responsibly and do not perform a U-turn in front of the school.
By practicing these habits at the start of the school year, we can keep all our students, families and neighbors safe. Thank you for your diligence.
Partners in Learning: Respectful, Ongoing & Effective Communication
We want to remind families that they are always welcome to reach out to the school. Communication about your child begins in the classroom by reaching out to the classroom teachers. This is the optimal way to connect about your child's schooling.
We are a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful working and learning environment for all students, parents, and staff. As a result, in all communication between school and families, all individuals should be treated with dignity and respect, whether in person, over the phone, or via email. We have a common goal to ensure your child is successful.
While it is most optimal to first reach out to the classroom teacher, Mr. Steed, Principal, Dr. Amanwi and Ms. Nguyen, Assistant Principals, are available to work collaboratively alongside teachers to support students and their families.
Sincerely,
Clarence Sansom Admin
