Request| Attendance

When your child is late or absent from school, for any reason, please call the attendance line (403 777-7700) which is open 24/7 prior to 8:00 am.  It is important to provide the reason for absence, particularly when we are closely tracking absence due to illness. Any information you are willing to provide in terms of gastrointestinal or respiratory symptoms is also encouraged and appreciated. If you prefer not to specify the reason, a call is still required to indicate that your child will not be at school. Your attention to this request significantly reduces the time spent by our office staff calling home to ensure student safety and inquire into your child’s absence.

Inform| Lates

Students who are not in their classes (with their school supplies) by the entry bell in the morning or after lunch are considered late. Late students are to report to the office and sign in. Students are responsible for arriving for all classes on time. Unexcused lates between classes are handled by the receiving teacher.

*Please note that parents can access the record of attendance for their student(s) on PowerSchool.

Attendance and late absence issues may result in an in-school suspension or an Attendance Improvement Plan which could be brought before an Attendance Review Panel.

Inform| Gr. 9 Vaccination Day – November 21st

Please ensure that you have returned your students Vaccination envelope to the school as Vaccination Day will be Nov. 21 for Gr. 9’s.

Inform| Retake Picture Day – November 23

Retake picture day will be November 23 so if your student was not in attendance on the original picture day, they need to have their picture done. If your student does not like their original picture this is an opportunity to have a retake done.

Inform| Transportation Delays

During the winter, roads may also be congested and slippery resulting in possible traffic and bus delays. Unusually cold or stormy weather can result in buses being delayed. Unexpected mechanical problems with the bus may also occur more frequently at this time of year. Children should be dressed appropriately for the colder weather as buses cool off very quickly. While we are working with our transportation providers for solutions, the snow and colder weather will make getting to and from school more challenging.

CBE Transportation does not adjust routes or bus stops due to weather conditions.

There are a variety of ways transportation providers provide real time route information for families.

Note | In times when they are extremely busy, all service provider staff are dedicated to driving buses and they are not always able to accommodate this service.
