Reminder| Sr. Girls Basketball Practice Cancelled

Due to recent events in the community that has impacted Coach Brown, the sr. girls’ basketball practice scheduled Monday morning has been cancelled.

Request| Gently Used Winter Clothes

Clarence Sansom School is looking for gently used winter clothing. We are seeking items such as coats, snow pants, winter boots, hats and mittens in teen sizes. If you and your family have items to donate, please send them to the school as a donation box will be set up inside the main office.

Request| Return Vaccination Forms

Vaccination Forms went home with students last week. Completed forms must be returned to the school no later than Friday, Nov 10th as Vaccinations are on Nov 21^th.

Inform| Halloween at Sansom

Tuesday, October 31^st will continue to be a day of learning at Clarence Sansom School. Students are welcome to wear their costumes for the full day or even part of the day if they choose. We encourage students to wear their costume over their regular clothes or bring a change of clothes in the event that they become uncomfortable or find that their costume interferes with activities like Phys. Ed or outdoor play. The guidelines for costumes are:

• Must be school appropriate.
• No culture appropriation
• No weapons in any way, shape, or form
• No masks - faces must be visible.
• No blood or gore.

The reason behind these guidelines is that we want school to continue to be a safe, caring and welcoming place. We want to make sure that no one is scared or fearful in coming to school.  We thank all families for helping us continue to make our space a safe one.

Reminder| Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our school, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

We have requested support from CPS and The Parking Authority to help enforce the No Parking Zone in front of the school, which is a bus zone. They will also ticket pedestrians for jaywalking and for cars speeding or making illegal maneuvers (ex. U-turns). Cars parked in the No Parking Zone may be issued a fine. Please be you are doing your part in making the school and our students safe.

Invite| Fun Lunch Sponsored By School Council

Our first fun lunch will occur on October 31^st and can be ordered through the Healthy Hunger website. Students can pick up their order during the lunch hour in the main foyer on that day. The order deadline has been extended until Sunday October 29, 2023. Orders can be made online through the Healthy Hunger Website.

Reminder| Student Health Plan

It is important that the office always has up to date student health information on file.  We have encountered a couple of medical situations this year and it is critical that we know about your students’ medical needs. Letting us know of a medical condition and the protocols around the condition are important facts for us to know.
