Thank you to all for a great return and start to the 2023-2024 school year! Students returned this past week and spent time getting to know the building, their teachers, and new classmates. It was awesome to have life and energy back in the building!

Our weekly newsletter will be coming out on a regular basis and posted to our website so that families and students are aware of important information.

Request| Forms   

Students were provided with paper copies of three Sansom forms that need to be completed. If you have not done so already, please take time to review, complete and return forms to homeroom teachers by Thursday September 7, 2023.   

All other forms must be completed as soon possible via SchoolEngage, which is accessible through your MyCBE account. If you have not done so already, please signup for this valuable tool. More information can be found here. 

Inform| School Council 

School council can provide a meaningful way in which parents/legal guardians can learn about the school and have their views taken into account in decisions that impact students.  

We meet eight times this year on the dates noted below:

Please be aware that dates are subject to change if a conflict with other school events arises.  

Inform| Cafeteria 

We are excited to open the Sansom cafeteria again this year. The cafeteria will be operational starting on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Student will have the opportunity to access hot and cold menu items for competitive prices (see info below).

Inform| Breakfast Club & Brown Bagging  

Sansom students who may be experiencing food insecurity are welcome to come to school from 8:00 am to 8:15 am daily to access a variety of breakfast items.  

The Brown Bagging program continues this year. Students and/or families who wish to access this program are asked to speak Ms. Petillot, Ms. Clark, or any one of our amazing front office staff.

Inform| Transportation 

For students residing outside walk zones, school bus stop and the route information will be posted in MyCBE. CBE Transportation continues to accept registration; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Families register and pay for transportation using MyCBE. Paper forms are available on Forms You Need;  please scroll down to the header "Transportation." 

Families must be prepared and have back-up plans in place in the event their bus is delayed or canceled on short notice. 

Request| Staffing Information   

Schools are funded based on student enrollment numbers. We kindly ask families whose students may not be attending Sansom, please contact Ms. Lawrence by Wednesday Thursday September 7, 2023 to let us know. This includes students who may be on extended holidays. 

Inform| Homeroom and Complementary Course Change Requests

We are not taking requests for homeroom changes as we are currently registering a high volume of students as our population continues to grow. Students without homerooms and classes get priority. Thank you for your understanding.

Many complementary classes across all grades are full and we can only make changes if there is space available. If students and/or parent/guardians wish to take a chance at a complementary course change, students can pick up a complementary course change request form at the office and return it with a parent/guardian signature. This form must be submitted by Thursday September 7, 2023.

We are not taking complementary course change requests for semester two until January of 2024.

Inform| Athletics   

This week, we are jumping into soccer/basketball tryouts and practices for cross-country team. Students wishing to try out for teams need to have their annual athletic form signed and handed in before attending tryouts. Information regarding practices and tryouts will be communicated to students through daily announcements and posted in the PE hallway. Inform| School Clothing and Swag Online Store

We are very excited to offer students/staff/parents/guardians the opportunity to purchase school swag. The Online school store can be accessed here. The store closes on September 10/23.

Request| Volunteering Opportunities at Sansom 23-24

We are seeking volunteers throughout the year for field trips for all grades. Our first field trips will be running at the end of September! If you are interested in volunteering at any point, please come to the office to start the registration process. It can take a few weeks for paperwork to clear the system so we strongly encourage you to come in ASAP!  Volunteers are invaluable and necessary for our field trips to run.  We are grateful for your time and appreciate your consideration and support.
