Dates of Significance
The CBE is committed to building a culture of appreciation and inclusion, where students and staff can see themselves valued, respected and celebrated. This dates of significance calendar identifies some of the significant days of recognition and celebration within the CBE community.
Culture Week 2.0 (May 5 - 16)
We are happy to share that our first Culture Week was a great success. It provided a meaningful opportunity for students to celebrate diversity, build empathy, and deepen their sense of belonging. Through shared stories, traditions, and food, we learned from one another and strengthened our inclusive school community. The Sansom community is encouraged to consider the following questions:
- What does culture mean to you?
- Why do some people feel connected to their culture? Why don’t people feel connected?
- How can we do a better job at learning about other cultures at Sansom?
- Have you done anything this year to learn about other cultures?
In this first week, students participated in henna, fortune telling, dressing up in cultural regalia, cultural bake sale, the Jing Wo performance and a potluck.
The following activities will feature in the second culture week:
- May 12: Trivia gym blast
- May 13: Languages station
- May 14: Flag day
- May 15: Cultural Kahoot
Parking Reminders
- Please do not park or drop off students in the bus zone between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Please always use the marked crosswalks. (No jaywalking)
Partners in Learning: Respectful, Ongoing & Effective Communication
We want all parents and guardians to feel welcome and encouraged to connect with us. As partners in your child’s education, we value respectful communication about academic progress, well-being, and any questions about school or CBE processes.
The best place to start is with your child’s classroom teacher. For additional support, Mr. Steed, Ms. Nguyen, and Dr. Amanwi are also available. Formal reporting occurs four times a year - through report cards in January and June, and conferences in November and March, but you're welcome to reach out anytime by phone, email, or in person.
All communication between the school and families should reflect mutual dignity and respect. whether in person, by phone, or through email. We share a common goal: your child’s success. Thank you for contributing to a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning environment for everyone.
Have a restful and restorative weekend!
Respectfully,
Glen Steed
Principal
