Good afternoon parents/guardians,

On behalf of the Sansom team, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year and all the best in 2024!  I am looking forward to having students and staff return tomorrow (January 8, 2024) for a full week of learning.

It appears that true Calgary winter weather is returning this week with temperatures dropping into the -20C range (and colder) with snow. Please ensure that your child(ren) are prepared for the weather. If your family is struggling to find appropriate clothing, the school has a collection of jackets, boots, mitts and hats. Please contact the office if you have questions.

Please don’t forget that the school does not open until 8:15 am and students are always encouraged to stay inside for lunch when temperatures (including wind-chill) fall below -20C.

Update| Athletics

• Volleyball season runs from January 8 to March 24, 2024.  Tryouts will begin this week and teams created afterwards. 
• If a student, for any reason, is missing a try-out, it is their responsibility to speak with the coach directly. Students who do not attend try-outs will not be considered for team selection.
• Tryout Schedule:
  • Senior Boys tryouts are the morning of January 8th – early start to our first day back from break!
  • Sr. Girls are the afternoon of the 8th!
  • Jr. boys\girls, please stay tuned for information coming out early this week
• This year’s volleyball coaches are:
  • Sr. Girls: Michalenko & Grant
  • Sr. Boys: Polson & Kruhlak
  • Jr. Girls: Boyd & Lafont
  • Jr. Boys: Nordstrom-Young & Huynh

• Wrestling season continues with practices and meets.
• View their children’s academic information (schedule, grades and attendance).
• Register for transportation and noon supervision.
• Pay fees and request fee waivers.
• Book school conferences.

As in previous years, paper copies of report cards are no longer printed.  Semester 1 report cards will be available for viewing in your MyCBE / PowerSchool Account on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
